P&G Experts Discuss Future of Sustainable Consumer Goods on Grow Everything Podcast

March 24, 2026

For nearly two centuries, P&G has operated at the intersection of biology and innovation. Today, we’re redefining what’s possible through cold-water enzymes, naturally derived beauty actives, and biotech-enabled solutions that touch countless lives each day.

Our P&G Research & Development (R&D) experts Jose Carlos Garcia-Garcia, Senior Director and Research Fellow, and Amy Trejo, Director, Responsible Materials Innovations, Beauty Care, recently joined the Grow Everything podcast to share insights to our efforts advancing sustainable biomaterials innovation.

Hosted by Erum Khan and Karl Schmeider, the program features the leaders and experts transforming every industry with biotechnology. Amy and Jose Carlos offered candid advice for industry partners seeking to collaborate with P&G, dispelled common misconceptions about working with large consumer product goods companies, and explained why reducing ideas to practice is critical to scaling sustainable, breakthrough biotechnologies.

“When you think about key products in the biotech space, success is largely based on those that have delivered against the promise they set out to achieve,” said Amy. “At P&G, fostering superior products that directly impact people’s lives drives everything we do.”

Their conversation also highlighted P&G’s Connect + Develop model, which actively seeks collaborations with external partners such as startups, research institutions, and academia to identify capabilities that create innovative solutions. These strategic alliances allow our team to scale innovation in consumer products and unlock superior performance.

“Partnership and collaboration are part of P&G’s DNA,” said Jose Carlos. “When you partner with P&G, your innovation doesn’t live in just one product–it has the potential to span multiple products in our broad portfolio.”
