“We all play a role in the future of recycling, and as a chemical engineer, my role is to find a better way to reuse plastic and create more sustainable products and packaging. It’s amazing to think that P&G R&D capabilities are literally turning waste into worth.”
John Layman, PhDP&G R&D Senior Director of Sustainable Materials Development
John helps P&G create responsible materials that reduce overall environmental impact. In his 14 years at P&G, John’s team has launched sustainable materials for familiar global brands including Pantene, Herbal Essences, Always, Pampers, Tide, Ariel, and Gillette. John also invented a patented purification technology to remove contamination from recycled plastics, producing the high quality of virgin plastics with a much lower carbon footprint.
